The Point At Which Parallels Intersect (2024)

66” x 29” x 25”

Explores I and a parallel being within myself; perhaps that one had pursued a more conventional path. Perhaps that one would be much less happy. It's useless to consider the opposite's possibilities, yet I continuously speculate on them. We are on a path somewhere, anywhere. We're not quite lost, but we meander endlessly, considering the existence of each other. The dolls, reflections of myself, face the pedestal and simultaneously each other, separate, but identical. The only point at which parallels can intersect is at an infinite point.

Georg Hegel, German idealist, termed self-consciousness as an interactive, constructive experience “which depends upon the pre-existence of other selves, which themselves do not become selves until they recognize themselves in others and vice versa”. Together, we navigate this web of existence/nonexistence in the lumps of the world.
